What’s “New” in Retro Kitchen Accessories

Chances are you're reading this because you love the look of retro. But not everyone embraces the idea of buying pre-owned and/or vintage kitchen accessories. Fortunately, that old saying really is true; everything old is new again. Here are some kitchen accessories that have all the charm and appeal of their vintage counterparts... with retro styling in colors that will complement any decor.

Prep BowlsA set of prep bowls is high on the list of most-used items in every kitchen. This four-piece set is inspired by the bowls Grandma used to use, in bold, bright colors that will have you thinking about repainting the room to match. They are so attractive that you'll find yourself using them often. And, unlike the bowls of the 40's & 50's, this set is freezer, microwave and dishwasher safe. And they nest for space-saving storage.

Confetti Mixing BowlsThe inspiration for this set of confetti mixing bowls came straight out of the 50's, when these colorful classics were used for both food prep and tabletop serving. Their bold, bright colors conjure up images of warm summer days and dinners eaten at the picnic table. These are made of recylced melamine and are dishwasher safe. It should be noted that they are not microwaveable, but we think they look so cool that we're willing to overlook that.

Cafe Blue DinnerwareCorelle makes tableware that's known for it's durability, and they have dinnerware sets available right now that are worthy of any retro kitchen.

Each of these 16-piece sets is dishwasher and microwave safe, which fits right in with our busy 21st century lifestyles.

Vintage Look Dish TowelsVintage kitchen textiles can be difficult to find in pristine condition, but luckily there are alternatives. Here's a brand new set of striped cotton dish towels that are reminiscent of those found in kitchens of the 40's, and each one has a hanger sewn into one end, just like the originals.

Retro Kitchen ClockAnd last, but not least... we love, love, love the color of this retro kitchen wall clock. It features a metal body, chrome bezel and glass face cover. Best of all, it operates on just one "AA" battery, so there are no unsightly cords to contend with.

So, there you have it. We've shown you just a few of the many affordable kitchen accessories being produced today that would be right at home in any kitchen; whether your style is retro, country cottage or contemporary. Adding new kitchen accessories can provide the convenience of today's technology without sacrificing yesterday's color and design.
