The Fantastic 1940′s

Though the first half of the decade was overshadowed by war, the post-war 40's saw unprecedented growth, and the heyday of the movie industry brought glamor to both fashion and interior design.

Returning soldiers, and the subsequent baby boom, drove new housing construction to record levels. New-found prosperity meant money to spend; and homes were decorated with paint, wallpaper, carpeting and upholstered furniture in bright fabrics.
